The Internet used to be full of these things – self-designed, no-frills compendiums of information and idle conjecture about niche interests, hosted on services like Geocities, Angelfire, Lycos and 50megs. Next, there were blogs -- public journals where aspiring authors could publish through platforms such as LiveJournal and Blogspot. Then came the advent of social media networks like MySpace, Facebook and Tumblr, which each promised a way of sharing information with more interactivity and worked well, for a time, before enshittification encroached. So we find ourselves back to the beginning, looking for a way to build an onliine presence away from the tech billionaire landlords who shape so much of our digital experience.
Thus, these pages. The intent is to tie together my now-considerable (although increasingly beset by dead links) digital footprint in a way that provides context, clarity and authority, as well as to provide a platform for real-time communication.
